The Scouts Canada motto is 'Be Prepared' and a North Vancouver man can thank a Metro Vancouver-area scout leader for living up to that pledge.

The leader was driving to Mount Seymour in North Vancouver for a scouting event early Friday morning, when he spotted a hiker who seemed out of place.

George Clark decided to stop for the man and quickly realized the 21-year-old was in trouble; disoriented, hypothermic and wet.

Clark drove the man to the top of the mountain where a search was already underway for Denis Ivanov, who had vanished into the woods near the base of Mount Seymour nearly 24 hours earlier.

Officials say Ivanov has been treated for hypothermia and is expected to be okay.

Clark says he just knew the man needed help.
