A police investigation was launched Monday following an apparent stabbing in a camping area of the Pemberton Music Festival.

Sgt. Rob Knapton said Pemberton RCMP were notified about a possible pepper spraying in a camping area, but before officers arrived they obtained information that indicated there had been a stabbing as well.

Responding officers located a man being treated for injuries, and he was transported to a Vancouver-area hospital in unknown condition.

One person was taken into custody but it's unclear what charges they are facing, if any.

The area was cordoned off by police, who were in the process of interviewing witnesses.

Thousands of music lovers descended on the mountain town north of Whistler for the three-day festival, which wrapped up with a performance by Pearl Jam.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pemberton RCMP at 604-894-6634.
