Students are back in class after a pipe bomb scare caused evacuations at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, B.C. Monday.

Cpl. Drew Grainger said an object resembling a pipe bomb was spotted in a parking lot and two buildings were evacuated at around 9 a.m.

The bomb squad was called to the scene to detonate the object and police said they quickly realized it was just a pipe with no bomb inside.

Grainger believes the pipe was randomly left in the area and does not suspect it was a hoax.
