A 75-year-old woman was struck and killed on Friday night.

Vancouver police spokesperson Const. Jana McGuinness said the victim was crossing the intersection at E. 41st Ave. and Ross Street around 7 p.m. when she was struck by a minivan. The driver stayed at the scene to help the investigation.

The woman was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.

This is Vancouver's third traffic fatality of 2012.

McGuinness said police are still investigating the case, but so far, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
