A disgruntled Fed Ex user says the company is responsible for breaking several of her grandparents heirlooms when the items were being shipped from Ontario to B.C.

Amanda told CTV’s Steele on Your Side that when the box arrived she discovered one of her vases was broken and several dishes were shattered. When she contacted Fed Ex to complain, she says she was told it couldn't guarantee the condition of the items and they likely weren't packed properly.

She claims the box was packed securely, but because she signed for the package and did not claim any damage she says Fed Ex told her there was nothing they could do. She wants to know if she should have opened the package before signing off on it.

Fed Ex told CTV News its system is highly automated and it treats all packages as if they are fragile. It says it appears Amanda's package was not packed properly.

Fed Ex does suggest opening a package while the delivery man is still there to ensure nothing is damaged.
