Mounties say two people are uninjured after a single-engine plane crashed on a private landing strip in Surrey Sunday morning.

RCMP, fire crews and BC Ambulance service responded to the crash, which happened along the Serpentine River near the 4700-block of King George Boulevard at around 10:30 a.m.

The pilot and passenger, both Port Coquitlam residents, were reportedly taking off when the planed dipped right, causing the plane’s landing gear to become caught in some bushes at the end of the runway.

The plane then nose-dived into the ground and flipped, causing visible damage to the aircraft.

Both occupants reported no injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board has been notified of the crash.
