New Westminster police have identified the man killed in what they are now calling a targeted homicide.
Thirty-two-year-old Sam Balani was found shot to death in his home at around 6:15 a.m. Thursday.
Sgt. Diana McDaniel said police responded to a house in the 500-block of Colby Street after reports of shots fired.
Police found Balani's body in the basement suite he was renting and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in to the scene.
“Investigators have been processing the crime scene overnight and in to the day and can say this suspicious death has been confirmed as a targeted homicide,” said Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
Police say there are no suspects and no people have been arrested.
