Canada’s revamped polymer $20 bills are causing problems for transit users in Metro Vancouver.

The new bank notes, launched Wednesday, are not being recognized by TransLink ticket machines.

TransLink says they have to roll out a new software update so the machines can process the new notes.

In June, lighter loonies and toonies caused similar problems with TransLink machines, parking meters and other vending machines in Metro Vancouver.

TransLink says the software update should be complete in a couple days, but until then transit users are being warned not to use the new plastic bills in machines.
