Nanaimo RCMP have released a photograph of a suspect who allegedly robbed a liquor store in the city in an effort to garner new information from the public.

The incident took place around 9:45 p.m. Dec. 12, at the University Village Liquor Store at 520 Fifth St., Mounties said in a release issued Friday.

A disguised man entered the store, located in Harewood at the University Village shopping centre, and jumped over the counter before demanding money from the till while wielding a knife. He stole an “undisclosed amount of cash” and fled before police arrived, the release said.

Officers using police dogs searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him, it added.

The man is described as being around 5'10" tall with a medium build. CCTV video captured at the time shows him wearing a black hoodie with khaki pants and a dark-coloured toque. Grey socks were used to cover his hands.

Anyone who may have any information on the man or his whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
