A mudslide in Fairmont Hot Springs, B.C. closed highways 93 and 95 in both directions and forced evacuations Sunday, according to reports.

News outlets are reporting evacuations are underway in the small resort community located halfway between Cranbrook and Golden.

DriveBC said the highways in southeastern B.C. shut down Sunday afternoon, but were reopened shortly before 7 p.m.

The slide took place three days after another one hit Johnsons Landing, a tiny hamlet on the shores of Kootenay Lake. Crews have found the body of one person who went missing in the Johnsons Landing landslide, and they are on a recovery mission to retrieve three other bodies believed to be buried.
