Two men are in police custody after a man and woman were stabbed early Sunday morning on West Vancouver's Capilano First Nations Reserve.

Police were called to the reserve shortly after 5 a.m., where they found a woman in her early 30s suffering from serious stab wounds.

Sgt. Paul Skelton said a second victim, a man in his late 20s, had already left and checked himself into Lions Gate Hospital.

West Vancouver police officers contained the scene, and within a few hours had located and arrested two suspects.

"Both suspects are known to police," Skelton said. Investigators believe they are familiar with at least one of the victims.

The men, ages 24 and 27, remain in custody. No charges have been laid.

The victims' injuries are considered serious, but not life threatening. The male victim remains in hospital; the female was treated and released on Sunday.

Anyone who may have witnessed the stabbings is asked to contact the West Vancouver Police Department at 604-925-7300.
