Rye So Messy Wings


Spicy sauce:

  • 1/2 white onion sliced
  • 1/2 bunch green onion sliced
  • 2 cups gochujang paste (Korean hot pepper paste)
  • 1/4 cup Wiser's / Canadian Club rye ( any rye will work)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons black paste


Mango sauce:

  • 1 mango small cut
  • 1tablespoon 7 spice
  • 15 ml rice vinegar



  • 1lb chicken wings



Spicy Sauce:

  1. Saute onions until translucent, then deglaze the pan with rye until 20% evaporated.
  2. Add gochujang, rice vinager, sugar and sesame paste in pan. stir slowly until a light simmer.
  3. Remove pan from heat and blend with a blender or hand blender, then set aside.


Mango Sauce:

  1. Blend all ingredients together with a hand blender/blender, then set aside.



  1. Place chicken wing in a pan with 1 tablespoon cooking oil on med heat.
  2. Cook both size until golden brown about 3-5 min. remove from pan and place in a bowl.
  3. Mix spicy sauce with chicken until coated evenly.
  4. Place the chicken in desired plate ware and spoon mango sauce on top.
