A five-year-old boy suffered a broken leg after falling out of a second-storey window in Surrey, just days after a similar fall killed a toddler in Maple Ridge.

The boy was rushed to hospital at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 7900-block of 126A Street.

Officials said the boy suffered non-life threatening injuries including a broken leg and serious head injuries in the fall.

He remains in hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, they said.

RCMP do not consider the case suspicious, according to Cpl. Bert Paquet.

The incident comes on the heels of a similar incident in Maple Ridge.

A two-year-old boy fell from a second-storey window on July 12 and died over the weekend in BC Children’s Hospital.

An investigation into his death is ongoing.
