The family of a 64-year-old Alzheimer’s sufferer who went missing from Coquitlam Wednesday morning is making an emotional plea for tips on his whereabouts.

Shin Ik Noh was last seen by his wife at around 10:30 a.m. as he left home for his daily walk near Lansdowne Drive and Guildford Way. He never returned, and no one has seen or heard from him since.

With nights getting colder, Noh’s family is growing desperate to find him. Daughter Rebecca Ong said her father, a former Pastor, is dearly loved and has a kind nature.

“He has so much love for people. He just reaches out to anybody and everybody,” she said. “We just need a miracle right now.”

Noh is in good physical shape and can walk long distances, but speaks primarily Korean but is fluent in English. Despite his condition, Mounties said he never forgets Rebecca’s name, or the names of his son Sam and granddaughter Natalee.

Cpl. Jamie Chung said officers are doing everything they can to find Noh, including handing out missing persons posters and checking transit, taxis and hospitals in the area, but have so far found no sign of him.

“We have engaged Coquitlam Search and Rescue to search trails in the area and parks in the area. We are also requesting [the RCMP Air One helicopter] to do fly overs to look for any person in any open areas,” Chung said.

Noh is described as 5-6 tall and 160 lbs. with an average build. He’s clean shaven with short black hair that’s greying on the sides.

He was last seen wearing a black New York Rangers baseball cap, a green and navy blue long-sleeved plaid shirt, dark green pants and black dress shoes.

Anyone who spots Noh is asked to call police immediately and quote Coquitlam RCMP file number 2013-27945.
