A Toronto woman whose cat went missing in the cargo area of Vancouver’s International Airport last week will soon be reunited with her beloved pet.

“Willow has been found at @yvrairport @WestJet THANK YOU everyone who helped. So grateful,” Kelli Seepaul tweeted early Monday morning. The airport retweeted her shortly after.

Seepaul had left her two felines at YVR on Thursday expecting them to be transported, but the cats went missing from the facility.

Before she could board her plane, she was told by airport staff that the cats escaped when the bottom of her pet carrier detached when baggage handlers picked it up.

Finnigan was found shortly after, but Willow, a Siamese, could not be located.

"I obviously missed my flight and waited in the airport for a long time trying to find her and I cried the whole time,” Seepaul told CTV News on Saturday.

Both cats had been abused before Seepaul adopted the pets, and Willow is still shy with her owner.

“She’s much friendlier with me now but I still can’t pick her up,” Seepaul had said.

WestJet said they worked with the local humane society, airport workers and a number of other agencies to find Willow.

The cat is now staying with Seepaul’s family. After being checked out by vets, Willow is expected to be on her way home.
