A man is dead after a fire broke out inside a Maple Ridge apartment building Sunday morning.
Fire crews were called to the Urbano Apartments complex on 224th Street around 11 a.m. where they put out the fire and rescued a male occupant from one of the suites.
The man was in critical condition when he was taken to Vancouver General Hospital burn unit by air ambulance.
Late Sunday Ridge Meadows RCMP spokesperson Dan Hebranson confirmed the man had died. Officials said the fire did not seem to be suspicious but Ridge Meadows RCMP and fire investigators are looking into how the fire may have started.
The coroners service is also investigating.
