A man is in hospital after being shot during an armed robbery at Sona Chandi Jewellers and Gift in the 8400 block of 128th Street in Surrey on Sunday, according to police.
Sgt. Bob Pinkewycz said police responded to reports of shots fired at the store at around 12:14 p.m.
"On arrival the suspects were found to have fled," Pinkewycz said. "A person associated to the jewelry store was found to have injuries consistent with a gunshot wound."
Witnesses told CTV News that the victim, a man in his 50s, is the owner of the store and was shot in the abdomen.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Pinkewycz said police are looking for four to five suspects who fled in a vehicle before police arrived.
They were wearing dark clothing and some were wearing masks. Police do not have a description of the vehicle.
Pinkewycz could not confirm what was stolen from the store. He said the investigation is ongoing.
