A man has died after a targeted shooting in broad daylight in Surrey, B.C. on Thursday, according to police.

The Integrated Homicide Team said the 37-year-old man was gunned down while sitting in the passenger seat of a blue SUV in the 6800-block of King George Boulevard at around 2:45 p.m.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound said police found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries 30 minutes later.

Pound said the victim’s wife and child were close by where the shooting occurred but were unharmed. The shooting happened beside the Early Years Centre, a child development facility.

IHIT is processing the scene and canvassing the area for potential witnesses.

“This apparent targeted shooting occurred in broad daylight in a highly populated public area where many businesses are located. The potential for further victims was high and this selfish act of violence is not taken lightly by investigators,” Pound said.
