Mounties have ended a lockdown at Langley Secondary School that was prompted by an anonymous call that a gun was spotted on the property.

Cpl. Holly Marks said officers began conducting a "careful search" of the school Monday morning, but there had been no reports of injuries or shots fired.

"Additionally, we are not aware of any direct threat to a student or staff member," Marks said in a statement.

A message on the school's website says the doors were closed before 11 a.m. Monday, with all staff, students and teachers secured in locked rooms. The lockdown ended around 1 p.m.

"Police searched carefully, and did not located any weapons or dangerous items during the lockdown," Marks said, adding that there were no injuries or reports of shots fired.

Last November, a 17-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly carrying a replica handgun to the same high school.

The scare spurred a two-hour lockdown, which ended safely.
