RCMP in Kamloops, B.C. have identified one of the two bodies recovered from shallow grave on a rural property outside the city on Wednesday night.

Investigators say 24-year-old Kenneth Yaretz has been positively identified based on autopsy findings.

A second autopsy will be performed Friday on the other body found in the Knouff Lake area, said Kamloops City RCMP Sgt. Scott Wilson.

Police continue to actively search the 20-acre parcel of land, where the two bodies were located earlier in the week. The cause of death has not been released.

Roommates Damien Marks, 31, and Yaretz vanished without a trace on April 17 while in the middle of moving to a four-plex house in Brocklehurst. Yaretz is believed to have ties to the Independent Soldiers criminal gang.

One man has been arrested in connection with the property search, but RCMP Cst. Cheryl Bush has said the charges against him are unrelated to the homicide investigation.

Any person with information on this investigation is asked to call the Kamloops City RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS)
