British Columbians are invited to pay respects to former premier John Horgan at his state memorial service on Sunday.

The provincial government released more details about the funeral Monday for those wishing to attend at the Q Centre arena in Colwood.

The memorial is free to attend but tickets are required to reserve a seat. The tickets are limited to two per person and can be reserved at this link or by calling 250-387-1616.

Doors to the venue will open at 11:45 a.m. and the province says all guests must be seated by 12:45 p.m. The service starts at 1 p.m. and will be about an hour and a half long.

“Parking near the Q Centre is limited. Attendees are encouraged to use public transit or park by the library and walk to the arena,” a notice from the B.C. government reads.

Horgan’s family has requested donations to the Goldstream Food Bank, or another foodbank of choice in lieu of flowers.

The online book of condolences will remain open for messages until next Monday, the province says.

Horgan served as premier of B.C. from 2017 to 2022 after sitting as an MLA since 2005. He died on Nov. 12 following a third battle with cancer.
