Two people were left homeless Saturday night after a cooking fire that took crews only seven minutes to get under control.

Firefighters say when they arrived to the building at 27 Eleanor Dr., smoke was coming out of the basement window.

The two men who lived in the unit could not return and were being looked after by The Salvation Army.

A fire investigator has confirmed the fire started in the kitchen.

Total damage is estimated at $50,000.

No one was injured.
