MOOSONEE, Ont. - Power has been restored in Moosonee, Ont., after a 12-hour outage that prompted officials to declare a state of emergency.

The emergency was lifted around 3:15 p.m. Saturday after power returned to most of the town.

Officials had called in Ontario Provincial Police around 3 a.m. Saturday to report a loss of power and water between Otter Rapids and Moose Factory Island.

The outage affected all residents north of the Otter Rapids, including all James Bay coastal communities.

Residents have been advised to boil water used for drinking and cooking until the area's water has been tested.
