The half-sister of Ryan Jenkins, the Calgary native who was the subject of an international manhunt last month after his wife was found dead in California, spoke out Friday for the first time.

Alena Jenkins said she didn't think her half-brother was responsible for the death of Jasmine Fiore.

"I don't think he's capable of it at all," the Vancouver resident told ABC's Good Morning America.

Fiore's mutilated body was found in a garbage can in California. American authorities announced Ryan Jenkins as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Days later, Jenkins was found dead in a motel in Hope, B.C. He had apparently killed himself.

Alena Jenkins said she communicated with her half-brother before the warrant was issued.

When asked if she was the so-called "mystery woman" who dropped him off at the motel after he had crossed the border, she replied: "I can't comment on that at this time."

RCMP officials have said they will not file charges against anyone who helped Jenkins after he entered the country.

"I'm aware," Alena Jenkins said.

Police say the killing of Fiore was fueled by jealousy. Court documents indicate Ryan Jenkins, a former reality TV contestant, had a vicious temper.

California authorities say they won't close the case until they've determined that no one else was involved.
