The Lava Canyon wildfire west of Alexis Creek is 95 per cent contained but nearby residents can't let down their guard.

Another evacuation alert was issued yesterday for properties along the northern flank of the fire, although the Redstone First Nations reserve is not affected.

Forestry crews say the blaze grew by more than 10-square kilometres over the weekend and is now approaching Highway 20.

Lightning sparked the Lava Canyon fire on August 2nd and the fire has now scorched 645-square kilometres of bush.
