SkyTrain service was disrupted across the board early Thursday morning after smoke was discovered billowing out of one of the transit trains at Stadium station.

Spokesperson Drew Snider said the car was positioned on one of the standby tracks adjacent to a platform when smoke was seen sometime after 6 a.m.

The entire system had to be powered down from Main Street station to Waterfront as officials investigated the fire.

Commuters were forced to transfer onto buses at the Commercial-Broadway station and transfer to the Canada Line in order to get into the downtown core.

TransLink said it appears the fire was caused by a train car dragging its brakes.

Full service resumed around 7:30 a.m.
