The future of the Bloedel Conservatory and the Stanley Park petting zoo will be decided at a Vancouver Park Board vote Monday night.

Both were put on the chopping block in November due to a $2.8-million shortfall in the board's budget.

Public outcry convinced members to consider submissions for new funding options.

Hopes are high that the conservatory will remain open after the board unanimously endorsed a plan to join the facility with the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens in July.

Supporters of the petting zoo are less assured.

The board has estimated it would take $400,000 a year to keep both attractions running.
