The former treasurer of the Vancouver Firefighters Band has been charged with several crimes for allegedly misappropriating more than $150,000 from the band.

Jason William Davidson was arrested after a three-and-a-half-year investigation and forensic audit into the band's books revealed that the money had been stolen. He has now been charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and uttering a forged document.

Davidson was treasurer for the band between February 2003 and October 2008.

The band is has not been associated with Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services since 2009, and a note on the service's website says that both the city and the fire service will decline to participate in any event involving the band. The fire department is now represented by the Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services Band.

Davidson is scheduled to make his next appearance in court of March 5.
