The 19-year-old former boyfriend of murder victim Maple Batalia turned himself in to police on Monday on outstanding assault warrants.

Two assault charges were approved on Sept. 29 against Gurjinder "Gary" Dhaliwal.

Surrey RCMP say the incident happened at 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 24 at a Tim Hortons donut shop on King George Boulevard.

Two 19-year-old teenagers, a man and woman, were allegedly assaulted. There is a publication ban on the victims' identities.

Dhaliwal has not yet appeared in court.

Batalia, an aspiring actress and model, was gunned down in a parking lot outside of the Simon Fraser University campus on Friday.

The teen had been studying with her friends at the library beforehand, her father said.

Hundreds attended a candlelight memorial for Batalia at Holland Park on Friday night.

As many as 50 investigators are assigned to the case.

No arrests have been made in her death, but the teen's family alleges she was having troubles with a former boyfriend.
