Drugs, weapons seized from North Vancouver home in trafficking investigation
A raid of a home in North Vancouver last month yielded a significant amount of drugs and guns, according to authorities, who say two children were present when the home was searched.
The investigation began in September when officers were tipped off by concerned community members about "suspicious activity consistent with drug trafficking," the North Vancouver RCMP said in a news release Thursday.
On Nov. 1, a search warrant was executed at the home on the 900 block of Lynn Valley Road, prompting a partial lockdown of a nearby school, police said.
The seized illicit substances included one kilogram of heroin, 3.6 kilograms of synthetic cannabinoid, 295 grams of a fentanyl analog and 205 grams of methamphetamine. Three handguns, a rifle and a sawed-off shotgun were confiscated, along with a number of knives, swords, and brass knuckles. Pills, cash and stolen property were also found.
"The collaboration between community members and our frontline officers has been instrumental in tackling the challenges posed by harmful drugs," North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson Const. Mansoor Sahak said.
"Today’s results are a testament to the dedication, commitment, and teamwork required to create a safer environment for everyone."
Five adults between the ages of 35 and 48 were taken into custody after the search and police say they will be recommending charges against three of them. None have been identified.
Drugs seized from a North Vancouver home were displayed by the RCMP on Dec. 12, 2024.
