The Courtenay radio DJ who asked B.C. Premier Christy Clark an uncomfortable question on air last month has been fired, according to his former employer.

Jet FM has released Justin Wilcomes, known on-air as “Drex,” from his employment contract, the station confirmed in a statement Thursday.

“We treat employee matters as private and will not comment further, other than to say that this was an internal decision,” the statement reads.

Wilcomes confirmed in an email he no longer works for the Jet FM, and said he was disappointed with the decision. He declined to comment further until he meets with his lawyer Monday, he said.

According to reports, during a Dec. 19 interview Wilcomes asked Clark what it’s like to be a “MILF,” another term for a desirable mother.

Clark responded that she thought it was better to be a “MILF” than a “cougar.”

Critics derided Clark’s response and her spokesperson said the Premier was shocked by the question, and responded in an attempt to keep the interview moving along.
