A 43-year-old teacher has been charged in the alleged sexual assaults of a young girl at Delta Secondary School last month and another youth six months earlier.

Robin Wait was arrested on Nov. 6, two days after the girl reported being attacked by an unknown man near the school gym.

A second allegation dating back to May emerged during the Delta Police Department's Sexual Offence Unit's investigation, but police have not revealed the accuser's gender or the circumstances of the claim.

Police have not released either victim's age, but Wait is charged with two counts of sexual interference of a person under 16. He also received two counts of sexual assault.

Wait was released on bail under a number of conditions. He has been ordered not to contact any of the alleged victims or witnesses either directly or indirectly, and not to work or volunteer in a position involving youths under the age of 16.

He was employed at Delta Secondary School when the allegations first arose. The school district immediately suspended him with pay.

Police Const. Ciaran Feenan said investigators are still looking to speak with anyone who has similar allegations against Wait.

"If potential victims or witness who may have information related to similar incidents want to come forward to police, we're asking them to do so," Feenan said.
