Mega-stars Matt Damon and Jodie Foster will be spending much of the summer in Vancouver, filming a new science fiction blockbuster by the director of District 9.

Plot details are sparse but the film, called Elysium, is said to take place 100 years in the future and feature Foster as the head of an alien planet. Filming in B.C. is scheduled to run from July 25 to Sept. 27.

Damon last starred in sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau and narrated the Academy Award-winning documentary Inside Job. Foster most recently appeared in the Mel Gibson-starring drama, The Beaver, which she also directed.

Elysium is scheduled to be released in March 2013. The cast also includes William Fichtner and District 9 star Sharlto Copley.
