Conservation officers had a busy weekend at Manitoba provincial parks.

Officials handed out nearly 45 fines to campers and evicted nearly 200 people from campgrounds and parks.

Those numbers are up from the same time last year and provincial government officials said the warmer, drier weather may have been the reason for the increase.

On average, campgrounds were about 65 per cent full, with Birds Hill Park and Spurce Woods Campgrounds nearly full.

This is the 12th year in a row that alcohol has been banned at provincial campgrounds over the may long weekend.

Officials said that although some people did complain about the ban, the response from the majority of campers was positive.
