Charges laid in New Westminster triple-stabbing
Police in New Westminster say a 30-year-old suspect has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault in connection to a stabbing that occurred back in October.
Parmvir Singh Sahota was charged on Dec. 5, the New Westminster Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.
Sahota has been released with "strict conditions" and is next scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18, police said.
While they did not share any further details about the circumstances of Sahota's alleged offences in their statement Wednesday, New Westminster police had previously reported a triple-stabbing that occurred at Starlight Casino on Oct. 26.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. on that date, officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the casino.
When they arrived, they found three people suffering from serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said at the time.
They also said they arrested a suspect at the scene, but they did not name the individual at the time.
The stabbings occurred during a fight between two groups of people who were carrying edged weapons and were unknown to each other, according to the NWPD, who said the altercation had occurred on the patio of the casino's restaurant.
On Wednesday, police asked anyone with further information about the stabbings to contact them at 604-529-2430 or email mcucrimetips@nwpolice.org.
