VANCOUVER -- The season of festive gatherings with family and friends is well underway.

On CTV Morning Live, we travelled to the Signature BC Liquor Store at 39th and Cambie to get some spirited tips. We first chatted with Adele Shaw who is the spirits and sake manager.

Shaw highlighted some recommendations for essentials that can make holiday entertaining easy. The items she showcased included Baileys Original Irish Cream, Bumbu XO Rum, Grey Goose and Victoria Distillers-Empress 1908 Gin.

The reason why she opted to focus on these particular offerings is because they are all highly versatile when it comes to being enjoyed on their own or for the creation of seasonal cocktails.

When it comes to cocktails there is plenty of inspiration in Taste Magazine, which is free and available at BC Liquor Stores.

Mixologist David Wolowidnyk joined the show to create the Tom and Jerry.

This classic winter cocktail dates back to the 1820s. It involves a batter that is whipped up ahead of time that can be milk- or water-based. It features warm, spicy notes of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

Wolowidnyk used Havana Club 7-Year-Old Rum.

After learning about seasonal cocktails, Barbara Philip, who is a master of wine, joined us to chat about holiday gift giving.

She shared that there are great options that span small to large price points. She guided us through the fine wines room where she highlighted a Selbach Mosel 2016 Riesling, a 2015 Chateauneuf Du Pape Domaine L'or De Line and an Antano Rioja Reserva.

Product consultants are always on hand to assist in finding the perfect gift. When in doubt a gift card is also an option.

Be sure to enjoy responsibly and ensure to always arrange a safe way home no matter where your festivities take you.
