A school bus driver in Clearwater, B.C. has been charged with the sexual exploitation of a student passenger.
Mounties in the Thompson region town began their investigation in January after the alleged victim filed a complaint.
Police are releasing few details about the offence, but RCMP Cpl. Chris Newel told ctvbc.ca that the girl is a high school student under the age of 18. He said he could not reveal if police are investigating more than one incident.
Newel said police do not believe there are any more victims, "but should anybody come forward, obviously we would be following up."
The identity of the bus driver is covered under a publication ban.
Kamloops/Thompson School District Supt. Terry Sullivan said that the accused bus driver is currently off-duty.
"As soon as the allegation was made, he was removed from service," Sullivan said, adding that he would not reveal whether the driver is still receiving pay.
The driver is charged with one count of sexual exploitation and makes his next court appearance on May 10.
