A B.C. man who won a $1-million Lotto 6/49 prize said he plans to celebrate the windfall with a big dinner.

Hung-Chieh Chou hit the jackpot on Nov. 13, according to a Monday news release from the BC Lottery Corporation.

The Surrey man was sitting in his car when he checked his ticket on the mobile app.

“I thought that it was a lot of zeroes!” he told the BCLC. “It’s incredible. I feel blessed.”

In addition to his celebratory feast, Chou told the BCLC he plans to pay off his mortgage and hopes to retire early.

The odds of winning the main Lotto 6/49 jackpot – which requires matching all six numbers drawn without using the bonus number – are approximately one in 14 million, according to the BCLC.

Chou's $1-million win came in the gold ball draw, which has a guaranteed prize of $1 million if a white ball is drawn or an escalating multi-million-dollar prize if the gold ball is drawn. The odds of winning the gold ball or guaranteed $1-million prize vary depending on the total number of tickets sold.
