A Kamloops, B.C. dad says he still can't believe he watched his teenage son's head stomped on during a lacrosse game over the weekend.

Patrick Rose told CTV News the extent of his 15-year-old son Blake's injuries is unknown, but that he will be in a neck brace for the next week.

"I was in shock. I'd never seen anything like that in my life in sports," Rose said.

The RCMP are investigating the alleged incident, which Rose says began when a rival player cross-checked his son to the ground during the final minutes of a game between the Kamloops Rattlers and Kelowna Kodiaks on Sunday.

"The kid stood over him, looked at him and stomped on his head," he said.

The Kelowna Minor Lacrosse Association has suspended the player involved indefinitely – though Rose says he would still like to him face assault charges.

"I feel sorry for my son and I feel sorry for lacrosse because it will give it the reputation it doesn't deserve, unfortunately," he said.

KMLA president Clint Alexander issued a statement Tuesday, saying the club is "deeply shaken by what has transpired."

"The conduct of the Kelowna player involved does not reflect the values of his (former) team, its coach, nor the game of lacrosse," Alexander said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Blake and the Rose family."

Mounties are trying to determine if the hit warrants charges or if it is a matter that can be handled by the lacrosse league.

They are asking anyone who took pictures or video during the midget-level game at Memorial Arena to come forward and help investigators.
