Police are appealing to the public for help to solve two recent sexual assaults in east Vancouver they believe are connected.

The first happened on December 9. A 69-year-old woman was walking in the area around Knight St. and 62nd Ave. around 6:30 p.m. when she was approached by a man in his 20s.

The man grabbed her, but fled the scene when she screamed. He is described as about 5'9 tall, with a medium build and a jacket with the hood up.

The second incident happened on Thursday in the area of 62nd Ave. and Inverness around 7:00 p.m. --only a block away from the first assault. A 52-year-old woman grabbed from behind by a dark-skinned man. Again, the suspect fled when the victim confronted him.

In the second incident, the suspect is described as being around 16-years-old with a medium build, long face and was wearing a hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Vancouver Police at 604-717-2257.
