Delta police believe a man charged with multiple sexual offences against young girls and boys may have abused more children during his time working with a Metro Vancouver youth baseball association.

Sixty-year-old Richard Glendinning of Vancouver is charged with indecent assault, sexual assault and gross indecency. Police say his victims include both male and female children in the elementary to high school age range.

Const. Sharlene Brooks said information garnered during its investigation has lead police to believe the suspect may have more victims because of his close proximity to children between 1985-1995, when he was affiliated with the Tsawwassen Amateur Baseball Association.

"He would have had access to numerous young people at that time," Brooks said in a statement issued to media.

Delta Police first received information about the suspect in December 2009 "regarding alleged incidents of sexual assault" in previous years, Brooks said.

Glendinning was arrested on Sept. 2. After making a brief court appearance he was released on several conditions and is due to return on Sept. 16.

A publication ban on the case prevents many details of the allegations from being printed.

Anyone who may have been a victim of sexual assault is asked to contact the Delta Police Sexual Offences Section at 604 946 4411, ext. 5253.
