Maria Weisgarber

Maria always enjoys meeting new people and finding a way to tell their stories.
She has been working as a journalist in Metro Vancouver for over a decade.
Born in New Westminster, she spent most of her school years in Prince George after her family moved north. Her love of writing brought her back to the South Coast and led her to the broadcast journalism program at BCIT.
Over the course of her career, Maria has had the chance to try out many different roles: from radio reporter to anchor to TV host.
She has also travelled to cover breaking news across the province and beyond. In 2017, she received a Jack Webster Award along with fellow CTV News Vancouver colleagues Jon Woodward, Mi-Jung Lee and Michele Brunoro for coverage of the opioid crisis.
