Darcy Matheson is the senior digital manager for CTV Vancouver.
The Ontario-native joined the station shortly after moving to Vancouver to complete a Master's degree in Journalism at the University of British Columbia.
For two years, Darcy produced consumer features for Steele on Your Side alongside host Lynda Steele, taking home the 2013 Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) continuing coverage award for an in-depth investigation into defective Whirlpool washing machines. The series forced the world’s largest appliance manufacturer to pay the expensive insurance deductibles of dozens of affected consumers and issue a public apology.
In Sept. 2013, she and Lynda debuted a national weekly half-hour consumer show on the Business News Network, capitalizing on the popular nightly segment.
Over the past five years, Darcy has travelled to east Africa three times reporting on issues ranging from child soldiers to maternal health to seafood safety. Her Africa coverage was shortlisted for a national Beyond Borders Media Award in fall 2010.
A passionate animal advocate and longtime volunteer, Darcy was honoured with the 2014 award for Media Excellence by the B.C. SPCA. She pens a column for Modern Dog Magazine and also writes a pet blog for Vancity Buzz
In her spare time, Darcy enjoys hanging out with her two dogs: A terrier-ish mutt named Seymour, and a Norfolk terrier, Murphy Brown, named after the fictional recovering alcoholic television journalist.
Her first book, "Greening Your Pet Care," was released in May 2016.
