Someone in British Columbia is $25 million richer – but they may not even know it.
One of two winning tickets for Friday night's $50 million Lotto Max draw was sold in Surrey, B.C., but has yet to be claimed.
The other ticket matching the seven winning numbers was sold in Quebec.
The odds of anyone holding a winning ticket were one in 28.6 million.
Friday's draw sets a new record in British Columbia for the richest-ever jackpot won in the province.
The old mark is held by former carpet cleaner Tsering Luding. The Richmond resident won a $24.6 million Lotto Super 7 jackpot in February 2005.
Friday's jackpot was only $4.3 million less than the record for the biggest lottery win in Canadian history.
A Lotto 6/49 prize of $54.3 million was won in 2005 by 17 oil and gas workers in Camrose, Alberta. Each took home $3.2 million.
