The Transportation Safety Board is investigating after a double fatal plane crash near Revelstoke, B.C.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says the aircraft crashed around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon and the crash site was found several hours later in steep terrain.

A Cormorant Chopper was sent from the Comox air base, and reported seeing the wreckage in an area used for heli-skiing.

Nakusp RCMP say the Rockwell 112B went down in a mountainous area near Galena Lodge. A local helicopter pilot was able to access the site last night and found two people dead inside the downed aircraft.

The victims have been identified as a 50-year-old man and 54-year-old woman, both from Saskatchewan.

They had left Kelowna and were on their way to Wynyard, Saskatchewan at the time of the crash. It’s hoped their bodies will be recovered today with the help of local search and rescue teams.
