The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called to a Burnaby apartment after a woman in her 60s was found dead Monday afternoon.

Mounties discovered her body while responding to a call in the 4900-block of Hastings Street around 4:30 p.m.

Officers secured the home and called IHIT to take conduct of the investigation, though no details have been released about how the woman died.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation and we are working to establish what happened inside the residence,” Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau said in a release.

Burnaby RCMP is working with IHIT and the Lower Mainland Forensic Identification Section on the case.
