A Victoria police officer under criminal investigation after a YouTube video appears to show him kicking a restrained suspect now faces a second probe.

The Calgary Police Service has agreed to conduct an internal investigation under the Police Act of the late night incident outside a Victoria nightclub.

Victoria police Chief Jamie Graham says Calgary investigators will conduct an independent third-party investigation to protect the integrity of the Police Act process and ensure complete transparency and accountability.

Graham has also delegated his powers to hand out any possible discipline in the case to New Westminster Police Chief Dave Jones.

The Vancouver Police Department is handling the criminal investigation -- monitored by the B.C. Police Complaint Commissioner's office.

The video, shot as Victoria police responded to a brawl outside the nightclub, shows an officer apparently kicking a man who is being restrained and kneeling on the ground.
