Mounties are searching for suspects after a brazen daylight shootout between two vehicles in Surrey Saturday afternoon.

Staff Sgt. Murray Hedderson said multiple witnesses and 911 callers reported seeing a white Nissan following a black Mercedes around the area of 139 Street and 88 Avenue at around 1:10 p.m.

Witnesses said both cars were weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds before the occupants of the Nissan fired shots at the Mercedes. Others reported seeing shots coming from the Mercedes.

Nobody was reported injured, but at least one other vehicle was struck by a bullet, according to police.

After attending the scene, police received a call that two identical vehicles were chasing one another eastbound on the Fraser Highway near 155 Street.

Police haven’t confirmed whether those are the same vehicles, but believe the incidents are related.

RCMP are asking any witnesses to call them at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
