A 19-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with killing his own father, whose body was found in his Coal Harbour apartment two months ago.
Vladimir Shevalev, 80, was found dead at home on March 1. Though he appeared to have died by natural causes, police found indications he was met with foul play.
The case was referred to the Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crime Section, and on Wednesday the victim’s son Alexander Konstanovich Shevalev was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Police said they won’t be releasing any further details now that the case is before the courts.
The accused is being held in custody pending his next appearance on Friday.
The death marks Vancouver’s seventh homicide of the year.
