Vancouver police are investigating after a man was shot to death by Langley RCMP on Friday night.

Authorities say the 22-year-old man confronted Mounties as they were responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment in the 5200-block of 203rd Street.

The man, whose name has not been released, was shot by a veteran officer. He died in hospital a short time later.

Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit members were called in to investigate.

Const. Jana McGuinness said officers were on the scene overnight, but that there are few details to share.

"The investigation's going to tell us all the factors that led up to the shooting," McGuinness said. "We're not there yet, so that's what's being investigated today and in coming days."

Several witnesses have already been interviewed, McGuinness said, and forensic teams are examining the scene.
